On March 26, 2025, the Great Wall Heavy-Duty Truck Hi4-G launch event was held in Baoding, Hebei Province. Centered around “co-creation with users,” this groundbreaking technical event was the first in the industry where truck drivers, logistics company representatives, and engineers shared the story of its development on the same stage. By leveraging real-world data and technological innovation, the event redefined the value standards of China’s heavy-duty truck hybrid technology.

For the first time, this launch event placed users at the center of the stage. Four professionals from different logistics sectors—Fan Qianjin from Xuzhou Yika, Li Hailin from Kunming Chuxin, Wang Zhenxing from Black Panther Logistics, and Lu Bo from Ronghui Logistics—joined the technical team to share their experiences in co-developing the Great Wall Heavy-Duty Truck Hi4-G.

Throughout this development journey, the Great Wall technical team immersed themselves in frontline transportation, accompanying drivers on countless trips—from rolling mountains to flat highways—in search of the optimal engineering solution. From “repeated setbacks” to “gradual fuel savings,” from “mutual misunderstandings” to becoming “co-creation partners in sync,” they collected a total of 1,026 sets of real-world data. By adopting a “one calibration per day” iterative model, they transformed users’ core demands for fuel efficiency, power, and scenario adaptability into tangible technical solutions, making co-creating truckers the true first R&D center.

With the help of hundreds of truck drivers, Great Wall Heavy-Duty Truck successfully developed a product tailored to real-world user scenarios. At the event, Great Wall Commercial Vehicles CTO Sun Yu unveiled data showing that, based on over 5 million kilometers of user-verified testing, the Great Wall Hi4-G heavy-duty truck achieves 3-4L lower fuel consumption on flat highways compared to traditional diesel trucks. For flatland express delivery, fuel consumption is as low as 19.9L/100km, while fuel savings for mountain cold chain transportation exceed 30%, with an overall fuel efficiency improvement of 15%-25% on complex routes.

Certification tests conducted under the CHTC-TT national conditions show that the Hi4-G heavy-duty truck achieves a combined fuel consumption of just 29.7L/100km, which is 17% lower than the National Phase IV standard (35.8L/100km). This industry-leading fuel efficiency sets a new benchmark in the sector.

The Hi4-G Super Hybrid System is equipped with an independently developed 8-speed intelligent hybrid transmission, designed specifically for heavy-duty trucks. This fully self-developed system enables intelligent multi-gear hybrid switching, optimizing performance for various scenarios such as flatland highways, mountain climbs, and heavy-load starts, improving power response efficiency by 20%. Paired with a high-efficiency 13L Cummins engine, it achieves seamless diesel-electric synergy, delivering a combined output of over 1,000 horsepower. It also features the industry’s first tri-engine intelligent power architecture (P2 + P2.5 dual electric motors + diesel engine), with independent dual-motor control for power assistance uphill and energy recovery downhill, enhancing range by 15% in mountainous terrains.

The intelligent domain control system can analyze load, road conditions, and time efficiency requirements in real time, automatically switching between ten driving modes. Additionally, Great Wall Heavy-Duty Truck’s fully self-developed all-in-one domain controller integrates battery management and drive control functions, supporting OTA remote upgrades to further enhance system response speed and reliability.

Putting users at the center, redefining the value logic of heavy-duty trucks. The launch of Great Wall Heavy-Duty Truck’s Hi4-G Super Intelligent Hybrid Technology marks the industry’s shift from the “fuel era” to a new stage where “users define technology.” Moving forward, Great Wall Heavy-Duty Truck will continue expanding hybrid technology applications, working alongside users to usher in a new era of intelligent hybrid trucking.
